Is it s good idea to put scotch tape on a broken Wii disc?

You know how you can put scotch tape on a disc that has a crack in it? Like on an Xbox disc?Well,I was wondering if it would possibly work on a Wii disc? Because i'm not sure if it would because unlike the Xbox,the wii doesn't have a disc tray,so I would be too scared that there tape might get caught inside the wii?If this solution will not work,can someone please give me another solution(if any) as to how I can fix my cracked wii disc?cause it is one of my most favorite games ever and it would really help me out...Thanks.
