Personally, I would adopt a local puppy that has a smaller chance of being adopted, like a black lab puppy/ solid brown pup/ etc. Of course, if your dream dog is a Newf and they come from a reputable rescue group (not just a byb in disguise) then just go for it. Some people just have that connection to a certain breed, and it's not often you find real rescued, newf pups in a shelter situation.
