Resurrecting a dell gx270!!?

so my dad salvaged this piece of s***, and i need to do something with this outdated piece of s***. computer boots up fine, but then SURPRISE!!, 'asms' file on Windows XP Pro SP2 is needed. i don't have that OS, so i'm looking for a good version on mininova or thepiratebay. so here's my problem real problem - the cd drive isn't installed. i tried putting a windows 98 version in, but wasn't successful. i need to access the cd drive in order to even install the OS. how am i able to install a cd drive when i have no OS present? i understand for windows 98 you don't need to install the cd drive, but i'm guessing it's a different story with xp pro. someone pay it forward, please =)
