COLLEGE GUYS- Do guys expect a girl to have when they are hooking up in college?

I'm a freshman in college and I've hooked up with guys but I've never had . I just think it's dumb to have when you aren't in a relationship or aren't really close to him. Do guys respect that or do they think girls should have with them. Like the other day a guy took me on one of his fraternity date nights and after we were making out and all that and he was about to get a condom out but I said no. Do they respect that or take it as an insult or what??? I need to know!
