When I play videos, my computer flashes throughout the whole thing (WMP and VLC) Do you know what the problem?

It's not codecs. VLC comes with every codec known to man. It's most likely a video card problem. try reinstalling the video card drives with the latest off their website. Might also try giving your computer case a good blowing out. Dust can restrict airflow and cause overheating etc.
